About Exposure Assistant Exposure Assistant is a handy photographer's utility that helps calculate correct exposure settings for those times when the in camera exposure options are not flexible enough. It is primarily beneficial in two situations:

Determining long exposure shutter speed values
- Most modern cameras will not calculate shutter speeds greater than 30 seconds. Most of the time this is not a problem, but what about those times where you have set up your tripod at dusk to get the perfect shot, you've set the ISO to 100 for maximum quality, and the aperture to f/16 for maximum depth of field. All of sudden your camera is flashing "30" meaning that the shot will need a shutter speed longer than 30 seconds, but your camera will not do it automatically. In this situation, with Exposure Assistant you can switch to a full auto setting, input the values that the camera calculates and then enter your desired F-stop and ISO. Exposure Assistant will calculate the appropriate shutter speed. You will have to use the 'bulb' (B) setting (and a remote switch of some sort), but you will not have to guess how much longer than 30 seconds the shutter speed should be.
Using an older camera without a built-in light meter
- Though most of us primarily use digital cameras these days, inexpensive medium or large format photography using older film cameras is still a very viable option. But many of these cameras do not have a built-in light meter for determining exposure settings. An easy way to overcome this is to use a small digital camera to determine the correct exposure settings for the older camera. Unfortunately the available settings on two different cameras do not always neatly line up forcing one to do some quick calculations to adjust between the two. With Exposure Assistant you take the basic exposure settings as determined by the digital camera and then it transposes those settings for you to values that are available on the older camera.

Kigra Software is announcing an iPhone application beta test opportunity:

This next application from Kigra Software will be another 'niche' product with a limited target audience. Most people receiving this are probably not in those target audiences, but if you're interested in testing the app it would still be good to know that it appears to run correctly (& without crashing) on a variety of iPhone devices.

After this is release, there will be some updates to the 'Exposure Assistant' app and three different games are in development.

TSP Tracker for the iPhone

TSP Tracker (the exact product name is not yet finalized and may change before release) provides U.S. Federal employees a quick way to check the status of the various funds that make the Thrift Savings Plan retirement accounts. In the initial version it will quickly provide daily, weekly and monthly performance updates via tables and charts.

To participate:

Go to the iTunes App Store and install either 'UDID Sender' or 'Ad Hoc Helper' (just search for 'udid'). Both are free apps. I have been using 'Ad Hoc Helper' but either should work.
Run whichever udid application you installed in step 1 and send the email it generates to iphone-beta@kigra.com

Though it's been a long while since any updates have been posted, Kigra Software has not been idle. Thousands of lines of code have been written (some released; some tossed) while communication has been neglected. EJRAAK is a kids activity activity center for the iPhone, iPad, and Android. It provides a set of activities to occupy the younger when they're chanting "I wanna play on your phone!" An iPhone version was released this past December. An update was released three weeks ago and two weeks ago it was released on the iPad. There should be an Android version soon. Product page: EJRAAK

TSP App Updated to Work with New TSP.gov website

When the tsp.gov website was revised last month, it broke my TSP application, F.R.U. I've fixed the code that interacted with the tsp.gov website and the updated app is now available in the app store. You should get an update notification, but if not, try deleting and re-installing the app.
