If you check the app store today you’ll find an updated version of my TSP app, F.R.U. Version 1.03 fixes problems F.R.U. had updating from the tsp.gov website after Jan. 3, 2011. Another user had also been reporting that it was reporting the wrong figures for a couple of the L funds and this also should now be fixed.

How often does F.R.U. update?
I downloaded the app and it’s last price was 18-Jan-11.
It has not updated for the 19th yet and I was wondering if I had to make it update some how.
Thanks,
Bill
Bill,
Thanks for asking. F.R.U. will attempt to update every time you start it. (The is some code in it that says ‘I have data through 18 Jan and today is 18 Jan so I can skip trying to update’.) The status bar at the bottom when you first start the app should tell you that it is trying to update the data. The tsp.gov website itself is usually not updated until about 6:00-7:00 p.m. EST (or sometimes later).

p.s. If it is still not updating for you, please let me know and I’ll look into it some more. If that is the case, knowing which version of iPhone you have, what version of iOS, what times you’re trying it and whether you notice if the status bar at the bottom of the first screen is saying anything.
The last day mine updated was 1/14/11. My iOS software is version 4.2.1 (8C148a).
Matt & Bill, Do you have an iPhone 4 or 3GS? I’m now thinking that the problem may be that because of the muli-tasking capability of the newer devices, the app is never shutting down and so never getting the startup trigger to check for updates. I’m still on an older 3G model with no multi-tasking, but my wife has a 4 so I’ll see if I can duplicate the problem on hers.
